Concrete Work and Supporting Structures for Grain Storage
Grain storage expansion is a recurring investment on Northeast Iowa farms, and getting the concrete pad and supporting infrastructure right from the beginning saves money and trouble for the life of the bin. Eastern Iowa Amish Builders handles grain bin pad construction, supporting outbuildings, and the carpentry and concrete work that completes a grain storage setup in Fayette, Clayton, Buchanan, and Allamakee County.
Grain Bin Pad Requirements
A grain bin concrete pad must be engineered for the load of a full bin — which can be enormous for larger bins. The concrete thickness, reinforcement, and base preparation must match the bin diameter and the soil conditions at the site. We do concrete work for bin pads that meets manufacturer specifications and handles Northeast Iowa's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or heaving.
Supporting Outbuildings at Grain Sites
A complete grain storage setup often needs more than just bins. An equipment cover for the auger and handling equipment, a small enclosed building for controls and electrical equipment, a grain dryer enclosure, or a scale house are common supporting structures. We build all of these as carpentry and post-frame structures that integrate with the overall grain site layout.
Aeration Systems and Concrete Tunnels
Flat storage buildings with under-floor aeration tunnels and perforated concrete floors for grain drying and storage are a specialty concrete project that requires precision forming and placement. We have experience with flat storage concrete work throughout Northeast Iowa.
